K2 stands at 8,611 metres and is the world's second-highest mountain. Located in Pakistan's Karakoram Range, it is renowned for its steep terrain, severe weather, and demanding climbing conditions.
K2 was first successfully climbed on 31 July 1954 by an Italian expedition led by Ardito Desio, with Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni reaching the summit.
